Working Hard to be a Good Corporate Citizen
At American Family, there are many ways we demonstrate our commitment to the communities in which we live and work. Consider the following:
- American Family gave more than $2.5 million in charitable donations in 2010.
- American Family and its employees contributed more than $1.2 million to United Way chapters in the 19 states in which we do business.
- American Family, its employees and agents gave more than $150,000 to organizations benefiting Haiti in the weeks immediately following that country’s devastating earthquake.
Giving Much More than Money
Our financial contributions, however, only tell part of the story of our civic engagement. Wherever American Family has a presence, our agents and employees volunteer many hours of their time to benefit charitable, nonprofit and civic groups. And we serve as a major sponsor of charitable events and community organizations throughout the country.
Here's a state-by-state look at just some of the activities and organizations we support.
Arizona
We support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix. This organization provides a variety of programs in the arts, education, career and leadership development, health awareness, life skills, and sports, fitness and recreation. We also support the Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona, which provides grants to programs helping women and children.
Colorado
We support “Walk Like MADD,” a five-kilometer walk held in Denver. The funds raised through Walk Like MADD go to Mothers Against Drunk Driving Colorado, which provides community education, victim support services and youth programs throughout the state. MADD Colorado also works for the passage and enforcement of anti-drunk driving and underage drinking laws.
