About Us

American Family Embraces Diversity

At American Family Insurance, our mission is to be the most trusted and valued customer-driven insurance company. Employee diversity is essential to fulfilling this mission.

Jack Salzwedel

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

We value our talented employees and agents — of all ages and races, regardless of gender, color, national origin, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, physical abilities, political affiliations or religion. We value a diverse and inclusive work environment, and we embrace different perspectives that help us better serve our customers. Simply put, people are our most important asset.

Perhaps this resonates so deeply at American Family because we don't simply see ourselves as being in the business of insurance. More importantly, we see ourselves in the business of helping people.

When people are at the heart of what you do, you quickly value and seek out their diverse ideas and experiences. That’s why we have increased our efforts to reach out and listen to our customers, employees and agents.

We've met with small and large groups in formal town halls and informal listening sessions. We also continue to leverage the diverse perspectives of our women's and multicultural business resource groups and have taken ideas back, considered them in our business decisions and made improvements.

Our diversity and inclusion efforts will continue to revolve around a simple, undeniable premise — at American Family, everyone matters, and we remain committed to these efforts.

Adjuster "very informative, knowledgeable"

I had Joe Ruedas as my adjuster for my claim. I have to say he was one of the best professionals I have ever dealt with. He was very informative, knowledgeable, and returned my phone calls in a timely manner. There was never a point where I had a question on the status of anything. Joe always had or found the answer. I also received my refund within days after the whole process started. I would like to write and thank Joe again, and hope he gets the recognition for being a great agent (adjuster)! Keep up the good work!
