The American Family Insurance team of adjusters are here to assist you with your auto loss. During the claim process you will receive information that you may want to review.

Below is a list of questions with answers that you may have after the inspection of your vehicle.

Where will my vehicle be seen for the damages caused by the storm?

American Family Insurance will establish Drive In locations in your local areas. You can establish an appointment by calling our Claim Customer Care Center at 1-800-MYAMFAM (1-800-692-6326)

If the damage has made the vehicle non-drivable, an adjuster will contact you to make an appointment to come and evaluate the vehicle damage.

How long will my Drive In appointment take?

Your appointment should take an hour or less. There are times when the amount of damage to your vehicle may take longer to evaluate, but our goal is to evaluate your vehicle and get you back on the road.

Where can I take my vehicle for repairs?

You are free to take your vehicle to any repair facility. Your adjuster has prepared an estimate and we ask that you provide the repairer a copy of our estimate.

What advice do you have for locating a reliable Auto repairer?

It is your responsibility to select an auto repair facility and arrange for repairs. However, your adjuster may be able to help you locate a facility to do the work for the estimated amount. Should the repair facility have any questions regarding the repair estimate, they are to contact the American Family Insurance adjuster to discuss and reach a repair agreement prior to performing the work.

It is usually best to select a repair facility that is insured and bonded, and is willing to give you a written guarantee.

How long do I have to repair my vehicle?

American Family Insurance is here to work with you. The payment you received is good for one year. In the event you need additional time we ask that you contact your servicing claim office.

How was a value for my vehicle determined?

Our goal is to write an estimate to repair your vehicle. There are times where the damage is so extensive that your vehicle could be considered a “total loss”. In the event this occurs American Family Insurance establishes a value for you based on your vehicle. Type of vehicle, mileage, age, condition, and many additional factors are considered when establishing a value.

Why is my lender/lien holder listed on my payment?

Your insurance policy requires that any lien holder (if applicable) be listed on the payment as a payee. Failure to name the lien holder on the payment could result in legal action against American Family Insurance.
