Madison, Wis. (June 2, 2011) – Customers who recently purchased auto insurance from American Family Insurance gave the company higher ratings than customers who bought from any other insurer, earning American Family the top spot in J.D. Power and Associates 2011 Insurance Shopping StudySM purchase experience index.
Results of the study were released today, and examine three factors that make up the purchase experience for a new customer: distribution channel, policy offerings and price. This is the highest ranking American Family has reached in any J.D. Power and Associates study.
"The credit here goes to our agents and employees," says Jack Salzwedel, American Family's president. "There are a lot of companies who say they want to focus on customers and put the words down on paper. But there are very few that actually have it as part of their fabric and culture and really believe it."
The 2011 Insurance Shopping Study examines new customers' purchase experience with their insurance companies. Three critical factors (distribution channel, policy offerings and price) make up the purchase experience index, which is the basis for this award. Results were based on almost 6,500 consumer responses. The study also assesses a number of other measures relating to customers' shopping and purchase process.
