Am I charged an extra fee to pay my bill using Pay by Phone?

You will not be charged a fee to use Pay by Phone. Other fees still apply.

Can I pay all of my American Family Insurance policies using Pay by Phone?

You can use Pay by Phone for your auto, home, business or farm & ranch policies. At this time, Pay by Phone isn't available to pay your life or health policies.

What is the Pay by Phone telephone number?

You can call Pay by Phone directly at 1-866-424-8002 or select Pay by Phone from the billing menu at 1-800-MYAMFAM (1-800-692-6326).

What forms of payment does Pay by Phone accept?

Pay by Phone accepts:

• Personal and business checking/savings accounts. You will need the account number and financial institution’s nine-digit routing number (see examples below).
• MasterCard or Visa debit/credit cards. You will need the 16-digit card number and expiration date.

Can I call anytime?

Payments can be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We encourage you not to wait until the last minute to make a payment, as the Pay by Phone system may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance.

What if I need assistance while I'm trying to make my payment?

While making a payment, you may exit out of Pay by Phone by pressing zero at any time to speak to a representative.

What information do I need to access my account on Pay by Phone?

You will need the following information when calling:

• Billing account number
• Five-digit postal code (ZIP code) from your last bill. Some non-U.S. postal codes may not be accepted in the automated Pay by Phone system. If your postal code is not five digits or if it contains letters, press “0” and a representative will assist you. You can also register on amfam.com to make a payment through Online Billing.

Can my agent make a payment for me?

Agents and staff do not have security to make payments for you using Pay by Phone. You must personally authorize the electronic debit or credit as part of the process.

Can I make more than one Pay by Phone payment to a billing account per day?

Pay by Phone allows one payment on a billing account per day. If a second attempt is made, you are routed to a representative for assistance.

Do I receive a confirmation number at the time of the call?

You will receive an alpha-numeric confirmation number once your payment is complete.

When will my payment be reflected?

In most cases, payments and policy cancellations will be reflected in your minimum amount due and account balance within one business day. Please allow up to three business days for payments to be reflected around holidays.

Does Pay by Phone retain my financial information?

To protect your privacy, your financial information is not retained. Each time you use Pay by Phone you are prompted to enter this information.

Is the Pay by Phone recording available in Spanish?

Not at this time.

Is it possible that my financial institution could refuse a Pay by Phone payment?

Some small financial institutions may not honor the ACH transaction, but the chance of that occurring is rare.

How will a Pay by Phone payment appear on my bank or credit card statement?

The entry will appear on your bank or credit card statement with other electronic transactions. It will reflect the date and dollar amount of the payment and the name of the payee (American Family).

Will I still receive paper bills?

Using this payment method does not change the mailing of your paper bill.

What is the minimum amount due?

The minimum amount due is usually one month of premium, plus any applicable fees. You must pay at least the minimum amount due on your bill to continue your insurance coverage without interruption.

What is the account balance?

The account balance is the total balance owed on an account. Pay by Phone accepts up to $50 over the account balance on active accounts.

Please note a monthly Administration Fee is charged whenever paying less than the full account balance and may vary by state. However, this fee is waived when paying your bill using Automated Funds Transfer (AFT) or Online Billing. A service fee is not charged to pay your bill over the phone or online.
