Liability coverage provides payments for covered damages, up to the limits contained in the policy, if the insured is legally responsible for a covered accident that causes injury to or the death of another person, or causes damage to someone else's property.

Limits of Liability

The limits for liability coverage are listed as three numbers, each number representing how many thousand dollars of coverage the insured has purchased.

The first number represents the maximum amount to be paid for bodily injury damages sustained by any one person in any single occurrence. The second number represents the maximum amount to be paid for bodily injury sustained by all the people in any single occurrence. The third number represents the maximum amount to be paid for damages to all property in any one occurrence.

For example if you have liability limits that read 250/500/250 it means you have chosen $250,000 as the maximum amount to be paid for bodily injury damages sustained by any one person in any single occurrence, $500,000 as the maximum amount to be paid for bodily injury sustained by all the people in any single occurrence, and $250,000 as the maximum amount to be paid for damages to all property in any one occurrence.
