What should I do during an earthquake?

If you're indoors when an earthquake strikes, stay inside and move away from windows, skylights, doors and anything that could fall. If you're outdoors, move quickly into the open, away from electrical lines, trees and buildings. If you're driving, slowly bring your vehicle to a stop at the side of the road, away from traffic. Do not stop under bridges, power lines or signs that may fall. (These tips were provided by both American Family Loss Control and the Institute for Business and Home Safety.)

What should I do after an earthquake?
Check for gas or water leaks and electrical shorts, and turn off damaged utilities. Instruct the fire department or gas and electric companies to turn the utilities back on when the area is secure. Obey evacuation orders from local authorities. Be prepared for aftershocks. (These tips were provided by both American Family Loss Control and the Institute for Business and Home Safety.)
