Madison, Wis. (March 26, 2013) – Want to see your dreams on the big screen? Enter the American Family Insurance "Through a Black Lens" online video contest for a chance.
Entrants are invited to create a short (greater than 30 seconds but less than a minute) video depicting their vision of the American dream and upload it to the contest website. Then, share it with others and encourage them to vote. From the top 10 vote-getters, a winner will be chosen.
The video will be transformed into a short film and the winner will receive a prize package for two, including a trip to the American Black Film Festival in Miami, where the film – and the winner's dream – will premiere on June 19.
The video contest is part of a program developed by American Family Insurance to celebrate and pay homage to African-Americans' influence and contributions to the film industry. It began during Black History Month in February, when the first of eight vignettes from a roundtable discussion about filmmaking, featuring several African-Americans involved in the industry, was released. Vignettes were released weekly beginning Feb. 11 and will continue until April 2.
To view the vignettes, and for official rules and information about the "Through a Black Lens" video contest, visit www.amfam.com/BlackLens. Entries will be accepted through April 14.
