Bill grew up in Plainview, MN on the family dairy and crop farm with his parents and two older sisters, and surrounded by many aunts, uncles and a multitude of cousins. He and his wife Elayne live on a farm in Scandia, MN and have five children ranging in age from 37 to 15. His oldest son and his wife live in Colorado but the rest still live near enough to visit regularly.

After growing up learning to run a successful dairy farm I decided to branch out into the financial sector. I worked for three years in securities as a broker. I decided I wanted to try my hand owning a small business, but found it hard to stretch my time between a growing business and growing family. My uncle, a successful agent with AAL (now Thrivent), convinced me to give insurance a try and I found where my interest truly is. I worked for AAL, specializing in life insurance, before I decided to make a career with American Family where I've been for over 27 years.

In his off time Bill spends his time restoring his 125 year old farm house and working the acreage surrounding it. This time of year most weekends you'll find him battling his arch-nemesis: buckthorn.
