ATV FAQs
  1. It depends. ATV/UTV insurance requirements vary from state to state.  Ask an American Family agent about the specific requirements for your state.
  2. Easy! You can get a quote one of two ways. Either call 1-800-MYAMFAM(1-800-692-6326), or get in touch with your local American Family agent. No matter how you choose to get your quote, we’ll make it simple and convenient.

  3. You – and your ride – are unique. That’s why we provide so many coverage options. Take a look at the protection possibilities:

    • Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability, and Passenger Liability: covers you if you're at fault for an accident that injures another person or damages someone's property, up to the limits you select.
    • Comprehensive and Collision Coverage: pays to repair or replace your ATV/UTV if it's stolen or damaged in an accident, regardless of who is at fault. For each coverage, you select a deductible that you pay out of pocket. We pay for the remaining damage up to your coverage limits.
    • Customization Coverage: provides at least $3,000 of customization coverage for your custom parts and equipment. Up to $30,000 of additional customization coverage can be purchased.
    • Medical Expense: covers the cost of necessary medical care you receive as the result of an accident and can be used regardless of fault. In some states, medical expense coverage only applies after other medical insurance is exhausted.
    • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist: when the person at fault doesn't have insurance, or enough insurance, this coverage pays for your injuries and damages the at-fault party is legally liable for, such as medical treatment and lost wages.
    • Emergency Roadside Service: pays reasonable costs incurred due to a breakdown or disablement of your insured ATV/UTV.

This is just a quick look at available coverages. An American Family Insurance agent can provide all the details you need to help you protect all your dreams. Get in touch.

  10. Accidents happen – even to the most experienced ATV/UTV riders. Use these 7 steps if the unexpected happens to you:

    • If possible, move your ATV/UTV to a safe place, out of the way of other riders.
    • Check for injuries and call 911 if needed.
    • Be respectful and cooperative with others involved, but don’t admit any wrongdoing or fault.
    • Exchange info with other riders. This includes the year, make and model of ATV/UTV, the rider’s name, address, phone numbers and insurance information.
    • Use your smartphone to take pictures of the vehicles involved and the area of the accident.
    • If the police are called, make sure you get a copy of the report – it’ll come in handy when you make your claim.
    • File a claim as soon as possible. Call 1-800-MY AMFAM (1-800-692-6326) or make your claim online.
