Automated Funds Transfer
Never Miss a Payment with Automated Funds Transfer (AFT)

When you pay your American Family bills through our Automated Funds Transfer (AFT) option, your payments are automatically deducted from your checking or savings account the day they're due.

You have the option to pay monthly or in full. You'll only receive a paper billing statement when changes are made to your billing account. AFT can be used for personal, business and farm/ranch policies.

Contact your American Family Insurance agent if you'd like to start using AFT. If you'd prefer to set up and manage automatic payments on your own, enroll in My Account, register your account(s) for online billing and then set up automatic payments.

  1. Contact your American Family Insurance agent or call our customer care center at 1-800-MYAMFAM (1-800-692-6326).You will need to provide your financial institution's information.

You will be required to complete and sign an authorization form stating that you give American Family Insurance permission to automatically deduct funds from your account.

  2. Your deductions will be made on your payment due date.
  3. Yes. You will receive a billing statement by mail if the deduction amount changes from the previous month (even if the deduction amount only changes by a penny). The notification looks like a bill, but it will read "AUTOMATIC DEDUCTION: DO NOT SEND PAYMENT."
  4. Deductions never occur before the due date. If your due date falls on a weekend or holiday, the deduction takes place on the next business day.
  5. If your checking or savings account information changes, notify your American Family Insurance agent or customer care center immediately. Otherwise, we will continue to try deducting funds using the old checking or savings account information. This could result in an interruption or cancellation of your coverage.

Please note, you will need to complete and sign a new authorization form when your financial institution changes.

  6. If you would like to stop AFT, contact your American Family Insurance agent or call our Care Center at 1-800-MYAMFAM (1-800-692-6326) 10 days in advance of the next scheduled deduction.
  7. If there is only one policy on your billing account, the deductions will stop. If there are other policies on your billing account, the deductions will continue for the active policies unless you contact your American Family Insurance agent or call our Care Center at 1-800-MYAMFAM (1-800-692-6326) to stop AFT.

  8. Yes. If you received a paper bill in the mail, you can still stop by your agent's office to sign up for AFT. The deduction will take place on the due date of your most recent paper bill.
  9. It is best to check with your American Family Insurance agent or call our Care Center at 1-800-MYAMFAM (1-800-692-6326) to verify any changes to your deduction amount.
