How to Mount Your SMV Emblem
Using your farm equipment on public roads? In order to avoid accidents, let other drivers know you aren’t moving as fast as they are. It’s important to prominently display the Slow Moving Vehicle (SMV) emblem on your equipment when traveling less than 25 mph on public roadways.
Here’s a handy checklist to make sure your SMV emblem is properly mounted.
Assess your vehicles. The SMV emblem should be displayed on farm tractors, self-propelled machinery, ATVs used for agricultural purposes and horse-drawn buggies.
Placement matters. It should be mounted point up at the rear of the vehicle, near the centerline.
Right height. Ensure it’s between two and six feet above the ground.
Upkeep for safety. Be sure to replace the emblem when it becomes worn, faded or damaged.
Add lights. The emblem should not be used as a substitute for working lights and reflectors.
Once your SMV emblem is installed correctly, you can rest easy knowing that you’re protecting yourself and others on the road.
