What Is RV Vacation Expense Coverage?

If you have RV insurance with American Family, your policy includes vacation expense coverage. This coverage provides up to $200 in lodging costs if your camper or motorhome becomes uninhabitable while on vacation as a result of damage or destruction from a covered event.

For example, if you get into a minor accident and the door to your RV won’t close properly, we’ll help cover the cost of lodging while your RV is in the repair shop and you are still on vacation.

Understanding the RV Vacation Expense Coverage

If the unexpected happens, we’ll be there for you. We can help get your vacation back on track with vacation expense coverage. Here’s how RV vacation expense coverage works:

Your RV must be rendered uninhabitable by a loss. We get it, accidents happen. If your camper is damaged or destroyed while being used for vacation purposes and is no longer safe to be in, you’ll be covered.

Payments begin on the date of your loss. We’ll provide you up to $200 — per covered event — for lodging costs if your RV is damaged or destroyed.

Coverage extends to many types of RVs. We cover RV traveler-trailers, camper-trailers, collapsible camper and pick-up camper bodies. We also cover motorhomes, vans, converted buses or other types of qualifying camper vehicles. Your agent can help you determine if your RV qualifies.

RV Coverages That Ride Along With You

Because an RV will likely be one of the biggest investments in a vehicle you’ll make, you need great insurance. At American Family we’re dedicated to making your insurance easy to understand. Take a look at our RV protections and learn all about how we’re invested in your sense of adventure:

RV collision coverage. Helps protect you against loss or damage to your camper or motorhome caused by collision, either with another vehicle or a stationary object, or rollover — whether or not you are at fault.

Comprehensive RV coverage. Provides protection for damage to your RV that isn’t the result of colliding with another vehicle or object. Other coverable losses can include fires, explosions and weather related events like hail. The coverage also applies to natural disasters, theft and floods.

Limited RV pet coverage. Provides coverage for your domesticated cat or dog if they are in your camper or motorhome when it’s in an accident or other covered loss. Limit of $1,000 regardless of the number of pets.

Personal property. Provides coverage for the loss of covered personal property contained in, attached to or being used in connection with your camper or motorhome (within 25 feet). $500 coverage is included, but additional coverage amounts may also be purchased.

RV customization insurance. Helps protect the additional equipment, devices, accessories and/or enhancements added to your camper or motorhome. $1,000 in coverage is included with an option to increase up to $50,000.

RV Liability and Medical Expense Coverage

The costs can add up quickly with RV ownership. Nightly rates at an RV park plus gas and food add to those expenses. When you buy an RV, you need to know that your insurance will be there for you when you need it. Take a look at how our additional liability and medical expense coverages helps to protect your finances if the unexpected happens:

Liability protection. Helps protect you and other drivers of your motorhome if you or they are at-fault in an accident. This coverage helps pay expenses associated with injury, death and property damage.

Medical expense. Coverage helps protect you and others in the vehicle. It pays for reasonable and necessary medical expenses due to accident-related bodily injury, regardless of who is at fault.
