There are so many ways to save. On average, bundling your auto and home policies with American Family Insurance could land you an insurance payment discount of up to 29 percent on auto insurance and 20 percent on home insurance.*
American Family’s bill payment options are simple and convenient. The following billing payment discounts are the most common discounts to take advantage of, and we’ll walk you through just how to get them.
Paperless Billing Discount
When you sign up to receive all of your billing statements electronically, you can save on monthly billing fees by taking advantage of the Paperless Billing Discount. After your policy is set up, you’ll have 10 days to enroll in paperless billing before the discount is removed from your policy. Enrolling is easy, simply sign up for My Account and opt in for Go Paperless in the Payments & Billing section.
Auto Pay Billing Discount Options
Now you can add convenient automatic payments for a secure and simple way to pay your bill and land an insurance payment discount. When you automate your payments — whether you’re paying monthly or semi-annually, you could qualify for an Auto Pay and Automated Funds Transfer discount.
And we offer two ways to qualify for this discount. No more worrying about due dates, you get to pick the payment date and method that works for you. Whichever way you choose, getting the Auto Pay Discount is easy – it only requires a few minutes of your time to qualify, so take a look at the options below to see which one fits you best.
Option 1: My Account Auto Pay discount
If you prefer to set up and manage automatic payments on your own, enrolling in My Account is the way to go:
- Be sure to use a checking or savings account when you sign up
- After enrolling into My Account, you’ll first need to register any policies you have for online billing, then set up automatic payments
- Go to Billing and Payments, select Add Auto Pay and you’re on your way
Once enrolled, you'll only receive a paper billing statement when changes are made to your billing account. Paperless statements will be sent to your email account, and they’ll also be available to you online. My Account makes your busy life a little simpler. It’s quick, it’s easy and it’s available anytime, from any internet-connected device.*
Option 2: Automated Funds Transfer discount
When you pay your American Family bills through our Automated Funds Transfer (AFT) option, your payments are automatically deducted from your checking or savings account the day they're due. Here’s what you’ll need to know:
- You’ll need to have details on a checking or savings account when you enroll
- You’ll have the option to pay monthly or in full. Note that making payments manually or paying with a debit or credit card are not allowed with AFT
- If your due date falls on a weekend or holiday, the deduction takes place on the next business day
- AFT can be used for personal, business and farm or ranch policies

Full Pay Billing Discount
The Full Pay Discount is just what it sounds like — pay your bill in full, then get a discount. In order to qualify for this discount, you’ll need to pay for the entire term of your policy at the time of purchase. When you do, you can qualify for a one-time premium-reducing discount.
You’ll have three days after finalizing or renewing your policy to pay your premium completely, using any accepted form of payment. It’s important to get your payment in as soon as possible, as this discount will be removed from your policy if payment isn’t received in three days.
